At Time for Kindness, we believe kindness is everywhere. When we take a moment to notice it, whether it’s in our families, our communities, or even in the strangers we pass in the street, we start to see just how much good is happening around us every single day.
That’s why we share real kindness stories from our community every week. These small acts of kindness matter. They remind us that kindness is alive and well. The ripple effect grows every time someone chooses to notice it.
Here are the kindness stories from our community this week.
Keeping bin crews safe in the heat
“Our local Council sent an email to say that during the heatwaves, the usual 7 am bin collection would be moved to 5 am for the safety and comfort of their staff.“
A quick tip that made scanning easier
“Yesterday I was in Waitrose trying to scan my Waitrose card and waving it frantically to no avail. A member of staff came up to me and said: “Remember that every day is a school day?” And showed me a trick for how to do it straight away – no frantic waving required!!! He also shared that lots of customers struggle, so it was kind of him to also share in a “it’s not just you” kind of way!!!”
Bright messages left around the station
“Someone has been putting painted rocks with cheerful messages around our local train station.“
Offering a seat swap to make things easier
“I went to sit down in the aisle seat on the train, and the girl sitting by the window said: “Do you want to swap? I’m getting off at the next stop, so then you won’t have to move in 10 minutes.”
Helping a neighbour move the last few bits
“My neighbour was moving to a new flat in the next town. He lived alone after his partner passed away and had no car, so he had been moving everything by himself on the bus. I offered to help him move the last of his furniture in my car to save him from having to find alternative arrangements.“
Share your kindness story
These real kindness stories show how powerful small moments can be. When we notice them, share them, and celebrate them, we help make kindness more visible, and that visibility inspires more people to notice it too.
If you’ve witnessed or experienced kindness recently, we’d love to hear your story. You can share it with us here: https://timeforkindness.co.uk/share-your-story/
