Sharing Kindness Stories: Kindness Isn’t Just For Humans

A small bird rests on a paved surface beside a brick wall with weeds growing along the edge.

At Time for Kindness, we believe kindness is everywhere. When we take a moment to notice it, whether it’s in our families, our communities, or even in the strangers we pass in the street, we start to see just how much good is happening around us every single day.

That’s why we share real kindness stories from our community every week. These small acts of kindness matter. They remind us that kindness is alive and well. The ripple effect grows every time someone chooses to notice it.

Here are the kindness stories from our community this week.

Kindness Extends to the Animal Kingdom and Beyond

During the last heatwave, I was staying at my girlfriend’s, and I nipped out to put something in the bin, and one of her neighbours asked if I knew anything about seagulls.

It turned out that a baby seagull was looking very dishevelled and was hiding under a car. They had put down some dried cat food and water for it, but it seemed unwell.

The mother seagull was flying around distressed too.

My girlfriend’s housemate is a veterinary nurse and when she got home, she managed to grab the baby and get it into the shed with me shutting the shed door quickly behind her so the mother seagull didn’t attack!

It turned out the baby seagull had a limp, so in the morning she took it to work and got it patched up, and then returned it home that evening.

We don’t know what happened to it. I hope it’s ok now, but it was such a lovely example of a whole bunch of people coming together to take care of a hurt baby bird.

Share your kindness story

These real kindness stories show how powerful small moments can be. When we notice them, share them, and celebrate them, we help make kindness more visible, and that visibility inspires more people to notice it too.

If you’ve witnessed or experienced kindness recently, we’d love to hear your story. You can share it with us here: https://timeforkindness.co.uk/share-your-story/
