“Recently my year 10 daughter needed to find some work experience as part of a careers week at school. Football is her thing and she was keen to spend her work experience learning about how a football club is run, particularly in relation to women’s football.

She contacted Maidenhead Utd football club, where she is a season ticket holder, and was delighted when Helen Preedy, Community Trust Manager at the Maidenhead United Community Trust agreed to host her.

Over the 2 days she got to take part in so many different things, including social media, retail activities, club organisation, women’s development squad training, tours of the ground and a fun football session with the Brownies. She loved every minute of it!

But more than just offering a variety of experiences, Helen and her colleagues (another Helen, Grace and Neil) went out of their way to make her feel included and involved. It was so kind of them to spend time with her, explaining what was happening and giving her some real jobs to do, such as interviewing the development squad managers and making a ground tour video.

She will always remember their kindness and the genuine insight they gave her. And so will I!” Big shout out to all the Maidenhead Utd folks who make the football club such a wonderful, kind place.
