How Can We Help?

working

I was delighted to read this story of kindness from fans of Derby County Football Club.

The Championship club had to go into administration in September with debts totalling more than £80m. On Monday this week it came to light that amongst those owed money by the club was the charity, St John Ambulance.

The club owed them £8,300, related to the provision of first aid support on match days. But they were not listed as a preferential creditor, which means they won’t be a priority when outstanding debts can be paid off.

So a fan called Andy Mitchell set up a JustGiving page to try to raise the money owed to the charity. He said he was embarrassed to read of the debt. He wanted to show what the community of fans can do.

At the time of writing, the fundraising target has been smashed and stands at £12,300. This is much more than the outstanding debt 😊

I love this example of a community coming together to show kindness. Sport really can be a force for good in the world!

Well done, Rams fans!
