spread kindness

The knock-on effects of your actions can spread kindness more widely as people read the positive news of what you have done.

Deaf Awareness Week 2023

It isn’t often understood that British Sign Language is a language in its own right, not just some sort of transcription – so if you speak BSL and there isn’t an interpreter, it’s like an English-speaker being shown something in Spanish. You might also not realise that you don’t need to learn BSL to communicate […]

One of the things that is a goal for me in 2023 is that I want to bang the drum louder about kindness, specifically about the kindness that I believe is in the world. That I know exists already in the world, some days it’s easier to see it than others but it’s definitely there.

Text reads "We believe that kindness should be at the heart of all decisions businesses take. The Better Business Act gets our support!"

Wake up to better business with the Better Business Act

The world needs every business at its best, creating good jobs, helping to fix pressing problems and adding value to society. The Better Business Act is on a mission to change UK law to ensure that company directors are responsible for advancing the benefit of shareholders alongside other stakeholders: wider society and the environment. People with prams share a kind moment

I was pushing the pram along a busy and there were lorries parked blocking the pavement and also the view to cross the road. Someone on the other side, who was also pushing a pram, stopped so he could tell me when it was clear.

Kind neighbour rescues parcel from April showers!

“My neighbour just knocked at my door because she had seen a parcel out on my doorstep and it had just started to pour with rain! When she saw that I was at home (and the rain had stopped!) she knocked and handed over my parcel. I didn’t know the delivery was coming today, so

Text reads, "Inclusive language during the month of Ramadan. Instead of "You poor thing, it must be so difficult for you", try this: "I have so much admiration for your commitment to your faith". Instead of "Oh, how come you're not fasting like the others?" try this, Be mindful and respectful. There are a number of reasons why someone may not be fasting, which they may not want to share. Instead of 'It's going to be difficult to accommodate time off for you", try this, "I know how important it is for you to have this time off, I will try my best to accommodate." Instead of "If you're not eating, do you want to just work through your lunch break to get this finished," try this, "I appreciate you are not eating but please ensure you take regular breaks throughout the day."

Inclusive language during Ramadan

The Good Deed Feed section of the Metro newspaper featuring stories of a rescued glove, a seat being given up and help after someone passed out at a Metro station.

Have you seen the Good Deed Feed?

I hadn’t seen the Metro for a long time but I happened to pick it up on the train and was reminded of the Good Deed Feed. When I was a commuter, it was my favourite page and I’d usually turn to it first.

Celebrating kind women

In recognition of International Women’s Day on 8th March, I decided to write about 5 women that I admire for their kindness. Of course, there are many more kind women in the world (in my world and the wider world) and this list is just to get the conversation started. I’d love to hear from
