“My daughter and I were walking down the river Ribble from Knight Stainforth Hall camping and caravan park in Stainforth on our way to Settle village.
We found an injured lamb that had obviously taken a tumble from the field above and managed to get wedged underneath a fallen tree branch. It had a very swollen leg, badly cut knees and the flies were already circling the poor thing.
I managed to move the fallen tree branch but the lamb was too weak to move.
Cue the amazing Jack who was walking up river with his mum, dad and brother. He immediately lifted the lamb (who was a lot heavier than her looked!) and carried him up to the field above, reuniting him with the rest of the flock.
My hubby, who was back at the campsite sheltering from the midday sunshine with our two flatties, Echo and Pepper, had missed all the drama but was able to send a picture of the injured lamb via the campsite staff to the farmer who apparently took immediate action to make sure all was ok.
Jack’s dad said he might want to be a vet in the future and he certainly showed such a natural, confident and caring nature that we are sure he would be a great one!
Thanks Jack for scaling the fence clutching the injured lamb and saving the day!”
Thank you to Michelle for sending in this lovely story of teamwork and kindness to us.
