At Time for Kindness, we believe kindness is everywhere. When we take a moment to notice it, whether it’s in our families, our communities, or even in the strangers we pass in the street, we start to see just how much good is happening around us every single day.
That’s why we share real kindness stories from our community every week. These small acts of kindness matter. They remind us that kindness is alive and well. The ripple effect grows every time someone chooses to notice it.
Here are the kindness stories from our community this week.
A warm welcome into a new class
“I have just joined a contemporary dance class at a centre for over 55s. When I was at Reception paying to go into my first class, the lady behind me in the queue said, “That’s the class I’m going to. Would you like to come in with me?”
She introduced herself as Carol and looked after me for the whole class, introducing me to people and generally being extremely kind. In fact, everyone was really lovely, welcoming and friendly.
Carol said about half a dozen of the group usually went for a cup of tea after the class and invited me to join them, which I did. It all made my first visit very special.“

“A tourist offered to take a photo of me and my family when we were trying to fit us all into a selfie!“
Helping someone reach up high
“I saw a lady in a shop helping another (shorter) lady by reaching down a pair of shoes that were too high for her to reach.“
Making space so friends could sit together
“A lady sitting in the middle of a set of 3 seats in the shade on a platform noticed me and my friend come onto the platform and moved up so we could sit together.“
Showing the knack for the ticket machine
“I was at the train station, and the girl queuing in front of me for a ticket was having problems with the machine. I travel from there regulary so I knew there was a special knack to getting the machine to work, so I asked her where she was travelling, and sorted her ticket for her. We had a laugh about it and she thanked me for my help.“
