Sharing Kindness Stories: Making Milestones Feel Easier

A small plastic bag filled with colourful tissue paper sits on a surface, with a dark blue card attached showing stars, a moon and the message “Do not open until the night before school.”

At Time for Kindness, we believe kindness is everywhere. When we take a moment to notice it, whether it’s in our families, our communities, or even in the strangers we pass in the street, we start to see just how much good is happening around us every single day.

That’s why we share real kindness stories from our community every week. These small acts of kindness matter. They remind us that kindness is alive and well. The ripple effect grows every time someone chooses to notice it.

Here are the kindness stories from our community this week.

A thoughtful surprise for the first day of big school

Starting school can feel huge, not just for little ones, but for the grown‑ups too.

This week’s kindness story comes from our Chief Kindness Cheerleader, Sarah’s, sister‑in‑law, whose 4‑year‑old started school last week.

A couple of days before they started school, they received some unexpected post… a little “starting school kindness” package delivered to every new child’s door.

It’s such a thoughtful gesture and a reminder of how much unseen work goes into helping children (and parents!) feel supported during big transitions.

And the morning of school starting? Another surprise.

No confetti for the grown-ups, but a small present waiting at drop‑off.
A simple act, but one that made a big day feel a little brighter.

What a fantastic, kind school.

Kindness in education doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to be intentional.

Share your kindness story

These real kindness stories show how powerful small moments can be. When we notice them, share them, and celebrate them, we help make kindness more visible, and that visibility inspires more people to notice it too.

If you’ve witnessed or experienced kindness recently, we’d love to hear your story. You can share it with us here: https://timeforkindness.co.uk/share-your-story/
