Child brings a smile to stressed stranger.

a children’s playground with wings, slides and other items on a wood chippings, around it are some trees and beyond it a large expanse of water. There are children playing on the playground.

“I was sitting on a bench in the local playground, enjoying a rare parenting privilege—a hot tea from my flask and a moment to sit down. My husband had been away on business a lot, and between two small children, an intense training course, and job hunting, I was feeling depleted.

I must have looked slightly sad because a little girl came up to me, holding a 50p coin, and pretended to magically pull it from my ear. Her playful act reminded me of my late grandad, a man with twinkly eyes and the best sense of humor, who used to do the same trick. I smiled and asked her if she could find some more in my other ear.

A moment later, her mum approached, kindly checking that her daughter hadn’t taken my money (she hadn’t). She then asked how I was doing and even offered to help out if I needed anything while my husband was away. Her thoughtfulness lifted my spirits, just when I needed it.”

We know that children are innately kind but this is a wonderful story that shows it.
