Van closes door for pedestrian to get past.

I was going along a pathway in a fairly narrow street and up ahead there was a white van parked partly on the path with the drivers door open blocking my way. Before I got there the driver noticed and closed the door so that I could get past. What we love about this story […]

“I’ve wanted a worm farm for about a year since I started growing my own and composting. My housemate’s colleague had one that he didn’t use any more and kindly gave it to me, along with the rest of the food, bedding and other bits he had for it – all I had to do

Help for recruit struggling with drill.

“During basic training one of the recruits was really struggling with drill so the rest of the group went with them to do extra practice.” Helping someone with something they’re struggling with is a huge act of kindness – and the best solid foundation for a team too. A Twitter thread between Nicola Cliffe and TweetChizone. Nicola asks “what is the kindest thing a stranger has done or said to you?” TweetChizone replies “Oh god, I can’t even tell this story and not cry. I use to manage an LGBT bookstore, when bookstores were still a thing. One night, a caller says he thinks he might be gay and considering self harm. We are not a crisis center! But as long as we’re talking, he’s safe, right? So I talk to this guy and I answer questions and I try to be encouraging and I’m maybe sounding a little frantic and I’m definitely ignoring the 4-5 customers in the store, and this angel of a woman puts her hand on my shoulder and asks for the phone. ‘My turn’” she says. And she, this 50 something lesbian talks to this stranger on the phone. And a line forms behind her. EVery customer in that store knows that call, knows that feeling, and every person takes a turn talking to that man. That story comforts me so much to this day.” Nicole replies “This is so kind I cannot.”

Entire LGBT bookstore supports struggling gay man.

We loved this story of the kindness of everyone in an LGBT bookstore – it shows just how many kind people there are out there. “I used to manage an LGBT bookstore, when bookstores were still a thing. One night, a caller says he thinks he might be gay and considering self harm. We are
