#kindnessmatters

This collection of posts illustrates the difference that acts of kindness make to others’ lives. Your actions matter and these good news posts show you how.

It is so encouraging to see the community come out to support us like this. We'll keep you updated on any important developments. Lots of love, gratitude and solidarity from the Aubergine Team.”

Aubergine cafe supporters

When Aubergine, a cafe run by and for neurodivergent people in Cardiff, got notice of an increase in their rent that put the future of the cafe at risk, the community soon got together to support them. They held a community action meeting which was well attended to discuss possible options and quickly put together […]

A partner’s period cramp present

How does your partner show you kindness? ”I was staying at my partner’s when my period started. I get intense cramps and ibuprofen wasn’t touching them.I asked if they had a hot water bottle and they said no so I curled up on the sofa and focused on breathing. A few minutes later they nipped

Returning a credit card

Saving someone the time and stress of having to cancel their lost credit card can be a huge kindness. Many of us know the anxiety that comes up when we lose, or think we’ve lost, a credit or debit card. The rigmarole of getting it cancelled and waiting for a new one can cause a lot

Kind high schoolers

They might say kids are cruel but kids are often very kind. In fact since September two of Kezia’s friends have been helping a new kid at school to find the classrooms for his lessons.  It’s a big secondary school with several buildings on the site and must be confusing to find your way round

Community spirit

I love when communities come together! The road where I live is a loop at the end of a long road that goes nowhere else. Yesterday and today the road has been closed for long periods of the day for resurfacing. Our road WhatsApp group has been busy all day with messages of people informing each

Reminder to rest

Resting gets old fast so I was touched when my friend Nicky sent me a card to remind me to keep resting when I was recovering from covid. It was nice to know she was thinking of me, especially because she wasn’t very well herself.

A kind farmer

“We were camping on a farm and the farmer let my 12 year old have a go driving the little farm truck around the field. It made his day.” Thank you Ellie for sharing such a lovely kindness from her holiday.

Coffees for the team

Leading with kindness can be as simple as grabbing coffee for your team. At a team meeting at Chapter Arts Centre, Jeremy Linnell bought coffees for team members to keep them hydrated and save them some cash. How did you show your team or colleagues kindness this week?

LinkedIn screenshot of a post from Kate Stansfield reading “I know nerves are supposed to be a good thing and all that, but I wish I could keep mine at a more balanced level, instead of them turning me into a quivering mess! I AM looking forward to delivering another climate action talk this afternoon (this time to the ITI Parent Network), but I'll also be very relieved when it's over! Trying to focus on how right it feels to be doing this. Alignment of my values and all that. Not to mention the importance of community and of having these conversations, especially on the back of completing my Carbon Literacy training with Jen Gale last week... But I just hope there's no "mind gone blank" moments and apologise in advance if that happens!”

Supporting colleagues

Supporting someone and cheering them on when they’re nervous is such a huge act of kindness, and one that Sea Change Multilingual experienced last week. As the nerves overtook the excitement before her talk on climate action she shared with her LinkedIn network how she was feeling and the response was overwhelming support. Friends and
