Meet Noel – our oldest kindness ambassador!

Noel, an elderly man with light skin tone and bald head smiling broadly while standing in a corridor loaded down with bags with a plastic trolley stacked with boxes in front of him.

“I run intergenerational sessions in Care Homes, Butterfly Buddies, and am often blown away by the kindness of everyone involved – the residents, the carers, the parents and the children! But I wanted to talk about one particular resident who seems to embody kindness!

Every week he offers to help me carry all my equipment back to reception and always helps with tidying up – even picking up rubbish from the floor.

He’s also always looking for ways to be kind to the other residents, holding their hands and making them smile.

The other day he told me about a time when he had seen someone crying and gently asked if they’d like to have a cup of tea with him. He said he never asked what the problem was but just wanted to be there for them and by the end of the cup of tea the lady was smiling.

He’s such a gentle, kind man and even though he’s not necessarily in the best of health himself, he doesn’t let that be a barrier to being kind to others.

I told him about Time For Kindness and could I share the story and he was delighted to hear about the organization!”

As far as we’re aware, Noel is our oldest kindness ambassador and it’s lovely to have him. He’s showing that age is no discriminator to noticing kindness around us.
