Encourage kindness: Read books about kindness to the children in your life.
When children hear stories with kind characters, it helps them to develop empathy. They can see the impact that the kindness has on everyone in the book. They can imagine themselves being that character and think about how they will impact the people around them.
The brilliant thing is that there are so many to choose from. And it’s easy to find lists online of kindness books for kids of all ages. I like the lists from the School for Kindness and the Book Trust.
A book that my daughter enjoyed was the Boy at the Back of the Class, which tells the story of a boy who comes to school as a refugee.
