Community group offers “Big Welshcake Welcome” to families and individuals from Afghanistan who worked with British forces.

A stack of welshcakes. Text overlaid reads “Community group offers “Big Welshcake Welcome” to families and individuals from Afghanistan who worked with British forces.”

A community group, Llantwit – Together in Kindness, got together to offer a “Big Welshcake Welcome” to families and individuals from Afghanistan staying in the area who worked with British forces.

The Afghan people were invited by the British Government to live in Britain as it is no longer safe for them in Afghanistan because they were supporting British forces there.

Locals donated all manner of things to help the new arrivals, including traditional welshcakes, a symbol of hospitality and kindness in Wales.

On top of all that, they included an explainer of what they’re doing and a warm welcome for the Afghan people in their native language on the website.
