Committing to connect with mini street party.

7 people of varying ages, all with light skin tone, sitting or standing in a small paved courtyard on a residential street, some are standing the other side of the wall on the pavement. All are smiling, some holding glasses, one holding a baby.

“This pic, taken from the sunny weekend captures an impromptu street ‘gathering’ in our front garden – a 2m by 1m courtyard!

This particular moment of connection saw:

  • 3 generations.
  • 6 adults.
  • 4 kids.
  • 1 baby .
  • X number of bottles of fizz 🥂.
  • Plus plenty sunshine, chatter & smiles.

As well as the ‘core’ of our happy accidental ‘party’ we had another 7 or 8 of our fellow neighbours stop by, some joining for a drink, others a swift encounter en-route to nights out / walk / putting kids to bed.

A simple snap that brings to the forefront the power of connections. The power of genuine connections.

The well needed sun brought us out – with rain on its way (again!) I’m committing to making a more concerted effort to nurture connections that are physically ‘close to home’ though often not given attention in the busy day to day. Especially those who don’t perhaps get out & about so much.”
