Bus driver ensures loaded down parent can get home.

a view down a bus with a variety of people sitting on seats in it.

“When I lived in Ireland, my delayed train from the city arrived back at the nearest station to my house — still a good 30–40mins away — as the bus I needed was pulling away. I had my then three-year-old asleep on my shoulder, a load of heavy groceries in bags hung from the other shoulder, and was trying to manage all of these things and feeling exhausted at the thought that the next bus was an hour away and it was getting dark. The station manager saw all of this. He told me ‘just a minute.’

He radioed the bus driver, told him to stop at a particular place in a particular number of minutes, and told me that he’d drive us there. And he did.

The bus was there waiting, parked in a lay-by. I will never forget that man.

(and I apologise belatedly to anyone on the bus whose journey took a few minutes longer than they expected!)”

What a kindness superhero that bus driver is – and we’re sure the other passengers didn’t mind those few minutes. What do you think?
