At Time for Kindness, we believe kindness is everywhere. When we take a moment to notice it, whether it’s in our families, our communities, or even in the strangers we pass in the street, we start to see just how much good is happening around us every single day.
That’s why we share real kindness stories from our community every week. These small acts of kindness matter. They remind us that kindness is alive and well. The ripple effect grows every time someone chooses to notice it.
Here are the kindness stories from our community this week.
A small gesture in the supermarket aisle
“I wanted to buy myself a pastry in Lidl as a treat, but it was near the end of the day, and there were no paper bags left. A fellow shopper found some at the very back of a low shelf and got one for me as well as for himself.”
Teenagers lending a hand
“My car broke down this week, so I took the baby on the train, and when I got off, I stood there working out the best way to get the pushchair over the bridge. A lovely group of teenagers helped me over the bridge. They were so friendly.”
A thoughtful drink for passing pups
“During the recent hot weather, I noticed a house where the owners had put a dog bowl of water at the end of their drive, for any thirsty dogs to have a drink from on their way past.”
Helping hands at a walking theatre performance
“At a performance of a walking theatre play at the University of Reading, there were some older people in our group who had brought folding chairs to sit on to watch the scenes. Another couple of audience members offered to carry the chairs between scenes for them. They weren’t known to each other, just kindly offered to help.”
Holding the train door for a stranger
“I was at the train station and I noticed that a passenger was running up the stairs to the platform, late for her train. Another passenger who had just got off the train spotted her running up the stairs and held the door open for her.”
Share your kindness story
These real kindness stories show how powerful small moments can be. When we notice them, share them, and celebrate them, we help make kindness more visible, and that visibility inspires more people to notice it too.
If you’ve witnessed or experienced kindness recently, we’d love to hear your story. You can share it with us here: https://timeforkindness.co.uk/share-your-story/
