At Time for Kindness, we believe kindness is everywhere. When we take a moment to notice it, whether it’s in our families, our communities, or even in the strangers we pass in the street, we start to see just how much good is happening around us every single day.
That’s why we share real kindness stories from our community every week. These small acts of kindness matter. They remind us that kindness is alive and well. The ripple effect grows every time someone chooses to notice it.
Here are the kindness stories from our community this week.
A table offered at a restaurant
“We went to a Greek restaurant for my husband’s birthday lunch. Whilst looking for a table, a group who were just finishing their drinks noticed us and said that they were about to leave, so we could have their table. I think they had been planning to linger a bit longer so it was really nice of them to notice and offer to leave sooner.“
Helping an elderly passenger onto the bus
“When I got off the bus today, an elderly lady was hanging onto the bus stop. She wanted to get on the bus, but she had stiffened up whilst waiting for it. I helped her let go of the bus stop and supported her to the bus so she could grab the rail. I stayed behind her in case she fell backwards until she was safely inside.”
A friend stepping in to lighten the load
“I have osteoarthritis in my knee. A friend saw me at the supermarket and said, ‘Hang on 2 seconds whilst I grab my shopping, and I’ll carry that bag for you’. Such a simple thing, but meant so much.”
Calling out just in time
“I was on the bus to work recently when somebody left their phone on the seat. Another passenger called out to him as he got off the bus, in time for him to grab his phone and not leave it behind.”
Helping someone cross a busy road safely
“My husband gave me a lift to the shops the other day, and as I stepped out of the car, I noticed an elderly man waiting to cross a very busy main road. I wasn’t going that way, but I went over and offered to help him cross the road. I held onto his arm and helped him cross safely before heading back and carrying on with my errands.”
Share your kindness story
These real kindness stories show how powerful small moments can be. When we notice them, share them, and celebrate them, we help make kindness more visible, and that visibility inspires more people to notice it too.
If you’ve witnessed or experienced kindness recently, we’d love to hear your story. You can share it with us here: https://timeforkindness.co.uk/share-your-story/
