“I’d spoken to someone in my life about a fun thing I wanted to do with them. They messaged me a while later to ask if it was okay to do it with someone else.
I was hurt and could have been nasty and made them feel guilty but I recognised that they’d messaged me because they wanted to check in and give me the space to discuss my feelings, they’d asked because they cared.
So I took a deep breath and chose to be kind and tell them to go ahead and have fun even though it was difficult.”
