At Eurostar on the way to Brussels, an American lady indicated to me to go ahead to the passport queue before her. She said “I’m waiting for my husband” and I said “So am I!” Then I realised how that sounded so I clarified “I’m waiting for my husband, not yours”, to which she replied “I figured that one out, honey!”
It made us both laugh and was a shared moment of connection.
