The Anglers Country park kindness superheroes!

a variety of ducks swimming on a large lake at Anglers Country park. Grass all around the lake and lots of reeds in one side of the lake. It is a beautiful sunny day.

“I took my 7 year old daughter and 86 year old mum for a walk at Anglers Country park in Wakefield. Mum was in her wheel chair and my daughter Rose on her scooter and just a quarter of the way along the path my daughter stopped suddenly and collided with mum’s wheelchair, in the process cutting her ankle on the chair.

The cut was quite deep and I was just considering what to do when a wonderful family that had just passed us turned back to help. The mum of the family was a nurse and luckily had a bag of ‘the good things’ and quickly helped with wipes and antibac and plasters, but also noting the cut was fairly deep suggested I should go to a walk in centre.

The dad (a train driver) then took their toddler from her pushchair and kindly pushed my daughter back to the visitor centre and car park, allowing me to push my elderly mother back and bundle both in the car to get my daughters leg looked at!

I really can’t thank them enough. Also the friend with them who cleaned my daughters shoe of blood and ended up carrying the toddler and my daughters scooter!!!!

What a little adventure but I didn’t get chance to thank them properly (or pay for the promised icecream!! Which i would still love to do). I and my daughter and grandma were extremely grateful for their kindness that day!”

A big thank you to Elizabeth Webster who sent this to us, although it was intended for Sara Cox at Radio 2! It was very kind of you to allow us to share it too.
