My friend gave me a lift home from a night out this week.
As a non-driver I’m used to getting to and from the places I need to be by walking, cycling and public transport. It’s my choice not to drive and I’m happy with the alternative travel options I have (most of the time – it can be annoying when the bus doesn’t turn up!).
It’s not as big a deal to live without a car as many people think.
But I’m also very appreciative of the kindness of my friends and family when they offer me a lift. I recognise that it’s a demonstration of care and love.
And sometimes – like the other evening when it was late and dark – the convenience of a lift to my door makes a real difference. As does the kindness of the offer.
