Tesco Dumfries customer pays for stranger’s shopping.

a view down into a Tesco supermarket. Rows of checkouts along the right and customer service in the middle with people milling around everywhere.

“I was in the Tesco store on Lockerbie Road in Dumfries. I put all my shopping on the conveyer belt at the checkout and went to pay, but I’d left my purse at home. I then tried to use Google Wallet to pay, but my debit card hadn’t been registered.

I was about to put all my shopping back in the trolley and travel home to get my purse and come back to pay, when a lovely young women in the queue said she would pay the bill for me – I said I couldn’t possibly let her do that and the next thing I knew, she just leant across and swiped her card and paid for everything.

It came to nearly £30 and she refused to give me her name and bank details so I could pay her back when I got home. I was totally gobsmacked at her kindness.”

We’ve had quite a few stories of shopping being paid for recently. There are so many kind strangers out there in supermarkets! Thank you Irene for sending in this latest example.
