“On our way back to Dawlish Warren from Taunton in Somerset I thought it would be lovely to call in at the farm shop at Powderham Castle, a rare treat.
We took our dogs for a short walk to see the deer then put the dogs in the car and went into the shop, after treating ourselves to some lovely food for our dinner we went back to the car to continue back to Dawlish Warren, the car was completely unresponsive.
A young couple came over and tried to start it with their jump start and it still wouldn’t start. Another couple came over and tried to push it, still it wouldn’t start.
My husband is nearly eighty and I’m seventy, he wasn’t feeling well. I called the breakdown people, and the young couple kindly offered to take my husband and our two dogs to Dawlish Warren while I waited for the break down man to arrive.
They not only took him and our dogs back but made sure he was ok, then came back to check on me.
I failed to get their names, all I can say is they were angels in human form. I think they were from Bristol but I’m not sure. he originally came from Bridgenorth he said.
Not long afterwards the break down rescue man arrived and he sorted it out very quickly. He was very kind and I was able to get on way very quickly. He told me he was from Teignmouth, he is only 18 & his name is Charlie Parsons.
All these fabulous young people that so kindly helped two pensioners in their hour of need honestly gives you faith in people and I cannot thank them enough.”
