Kindness to swans

A family of swans swims across the beautiful lake that Sarah sometimes uses for walking meetings

My Mum and her friend were on their way to a WI meeting, driving along a country lane near Dinton Pastures Country Park in Winnersh.
They came across an adolescent swan sitting in the middle of the road. It was unharmed, but obviously a bit confused.

Jo stopped her car in such a way that no other cars could come past her, stopped the traffic coming the other way and then took off her coat and used to ‘herd’ the swan back into the country park and lake.

I was really inspired by Philip Lymbery’s talk at KindFest22 on kindness and animals and this story is such a great example.
