“I was riding my new motorbike, coming near to the end of my ride and thought I’d head up to one of Cumbria’s beautiful passes, in this case it was the Newlands pass in Buttermere.
I parked my bike up (in gear, I’m new but not stupid, or so I thought) and got off to take some photos of my beloved bike and the stunning Lakeland scenery. I was just about to get my helmet back on and there was an almighty bang, my bike fell over.
I just stood at the side of the pass, my bike in the middle of the road and stared at it. I knew there was no way I’d be able to pick it back up alone. Mortified. Panicking.
After what seemed ages three cars came driving up the pass. They stopped and gave me a thumbs up. I shook my head and bless them, they came running, (running! That’s no mean feat as I think I was at the steepest point) up the hill to my aid.
I was mid panic so I can’t remember much other than three Geordie lads picked my bike up for me, held it upright and made sure I was ok until I was ready to ride off (the ride of shame passed what is now a queue of cars all stuck on the hill). I think I thanked them. I think that’s pretty much all that came out my mouth, but I just wanted to thank them again, in case they hear this or anyone that knows them might hear it.
I’m trying to take a positive lesson from this, this being the kindness of strangers.”
We’re so glad you took a positive lesson from this Sarah, and thank you so much for allowing us to spread that lesson further.
