While I was sitting on a shady bench by the river, an elderly man with a walker came along and asked if he could join me.
He quickly introduced himself as Malcolm and we spent a lovely 10 minutes chatting. He told me about some of the places he and his late wife had visited and asked me about places I’d been.
He said good morning to every person who walked past our bench.
We finished chatting and he said he was going for a walk along the river path but within minutes he has stopped to talk to some people living on a river barge.
Sadly I didn’t get a photo of me and my new friend, but it was wonderful to spend some time chatting and I hope it made his day as much as mine.
