“I spent some time in hospital a few months back – under the care of neurology. After about four days of moping and keeping to myself (dissolving into solitude and headphones) – I started to chat with the other patients in my ward. Eventually chatting for hours with the person in the bed next to me – about what was happening to each other and how terrible the coffee was on the ward.
I had only had one visitor the entire week I was there – but the following day, their foster family had come to visit them with a fresh barista coffee which they just put on my table and told me to enjoy… it’s not much but as a coffee addict… it was life.”
As this example shows, when you’re in hospital a simple act like someone bringing you a really good cup of coffee is especially meaningful. What small, kind act has made a big difference to you?
