“I worked late in London, next to me on the train was a young lady around 19-20. She got off at my stop and I was at the front of the queue for a taxi, it was around 11pm so I offered her to go ahead of me so she was safe.
11 out of the 11 taxis there all refused card payment from this lady. It ended up just her and I outside in the dark.
I tried to get an uber with no luck.
She tried to book a taxi using the local company app. No luck either.
All of a sudden a lady pulled up that had been on the train and parked her car at the station. She offered us both a lift as she had seen us struggling.
I had to explain that we weren’t together in case she didn’t want a man in her car and that she should just drop the girl off, she insisted and when she dropped me at home it turned out that she lived in the opposite direction.
I was genuinely so thankful as it would have been a long cold walk for both of us had she not picked us up. She refused to take anything and I didn’t get her name but if it was you at Benfleet station on the 1st of May – you’re an angel driving a ford!”
