“I was invited out on a date (4th one so very new) and my date suggested we park up somewhere remote to avoid any chaos on the roads and walk the three miles to the show. Tim being a lake lander knows the district like the back of his hand but misjudged this walk immensely. […]

Goodies for stranger on train.

I left a bag with a few goodies in it on the train for someone else to find. I don’t know who found it – or even if it was actually noticed by anyone – but it makes me feel good to think that someone must have spotted it and hope they enjoyed it. Hit

Train passengers ease off on gory talk on seeing child.

On the train on the way back to Clapham Junction, a small group of people in their 20s were discussing video games they like to play. They started to discuss a really gory one but then one of the group noticed that there was a young child sitting with her mother right next to where

Stranger opens the door for coffee delivery.

“I had been out to buy coffees for the people in my office and had one of those tray things for 4 takeaway cups. I also had newspapers under my arm and my big work bag on my shoulder. As I approached the big heavy front door of my office building, I saw there was

Teenagers need softness too.

People often think teens in foster care are too old to need kindness. Sara Yahia knows that’s not true. She visits youth group homes twice a year with snacks, music, games, and time. Jayden, 16, barely looked up when she challenged him to UNO. But by round three, he laughed. Later, staff said he’d started

Social media strangers offer covid tests.

“I run and volunteer at a lot of in person events and with covid going round again was getting very nervous as I’m already very sick with long covid but couldn’t afford more tests until much later in the month. Two people on Mastodon messaged me privately to offer to buy tests for me.” We

Passengers work together on train to Bournemouth.

The train on the way to Winchester was absolutely packed with people going on to Bournemouth because it was a sunny day. There were lots of buckets, picnic hampers and suitcases. It was crowded and I saw lots of people helping each other to put their luggage on the rack, find space for their belongings

Fallen tree sparks kindness in community.

While we were out for our after dinner walk en famille earlier in the week, we were stopped by another walker who told us that the path ahead was blocked by a fallen tree. This meant that we could change our route. This tree was actually the source of several other acts of kindness too

Busy Streatham bus filled with kind people.

“I was on a very busy bus at tea time in Streatham. Just as I was thinking the bus couldn’t get any fuller – a harassed mother got on carrying a big baby and pushing a buggy. I was sitting in the seats reserved for older people (I’m 74) and mothers and babies. We all

Shared umbrella during heavy rain in Oxford.

“I was staying in Oxford for work. I delivered a half day training so I was exhausted and just nipped to the pub a few minutes from my accommodation for a quick dinner. I didn’t bring an umbrella or a waterproof coat. As I was leaving after a lovely dinner, it started to rain. I
